The Signed English Schoolbook

Harry Bornstein and
Karen L. Saulnier

August 1987

  $21.95t

The Signed English Schoolbook provides vocabulary for teachers and others who serve school-age children and adolescents and covers the full range of school activities. It also gives parents the language they need to be actively involved in their child's education.

The chapters, arranged topically, cover areas such as thinking and learning, hearing loss, mathematics, social science, family and life experiences, play and sports, feelings, and health. By design, the vocabulary in the Schoolbook is largely different from The Signed English Starter, except for the overlap necessary to ensure continuity and completeness. The Schoolbook is structured to help users gain speed and smoothness in their use of signs with speech. It is a major addition to the Signed English series.

Harry Bornstein is the former director of the Gallaudet Signed English Project and is now a consultant in San Francisco, CA.

Karen L. Saulnier is a former research associate at the Center for Studies in Education and Human Development at Gallaudet University.
